Our third annual Flag Exchange in celebration of Flag Day with The Historic Trust is fast approaching. From June 11th-15th, we will be giving out 150 American Flags while supplies last and accepting old flags to be properly retired. Old flags will be given to local Boy Scout troops to retire at summer camp.
We're also proud to sponsor The Historic Trust's 23rd annual Flag Day at Fort Vancouver on June 14th. Each year The Trust gathers the community to celebrate our flag and its symbolism through their Flag Day ceremony and Freedom Events. Look for a special guest speaker from our office! The official ceremony begins at 5:00PM and will include the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem performed by Northwest Harmony Chorus, a US History Quiz
between Sunset Elementary 5th Grade Students and the Clark County Mayors, a Declaration of Independence Skit by the Marshall Elementary 5th Grade Student and the much-anticipated Clark County Mayors’ Patriotic Tie Contest. After the ceremony family and friends can learn proper flag etiquette, master marching, sing patriotic songs together, and tour historic landmarks. Kids can color Washington state symbols in the coloring tent!
Every year, we look forward to the chance to celebrate the flag and the nation it represents, and we hope you'll come out to celebrate with us and participate in our Flag Exchange.
