The Sunday of Summer…. August

In Vancouver the last few weeks, we have gotten our fair share of hot weather! AC unit prices skyrocketed and box fans sold out of many local stores! It’s a heatwave us PNW natives aren’t quite used to. And now, it’s officially August 2nd which would typically imply the end of summer is near. School starts in a dreaded 3 weeks & annual family vacations are wrapping up. As Sunday/Summer comes to a close, don’t forget to take some time to enjoy the lovely weather, our lively community and your loved ones.

Make the best of the rest of summer by creating a bucket list of things to do before summer ends!

Take my new pup Hudson to Thousand Arce Dog Park in Troutdale to learn to swim, walk around & enjoy a picnic lunch! –Emily McCoy

Family camping trip to Hood Cannel – I want to go before my daughter starts school! – Sherri Walling

Finalize our wedding venue plans, somewhere in the desert! – Jacob Pierron

I would love to go to Smith Rock to do some Rock Climbing this summer – Mike Connelly

Try three new local breweries, I love eating outside in the summer sun & enjoying a good book. – Britny Schlinkmeier

I want to take my boys to Sunriver, we haven’t been there in a few summers – Cassie Guthmiller

Pick an activity:

Is there something you’ve been wanting to do all summer but haven’t found the time? Do that! Or think of something that you haven’t done and would bring joy to your day & create a memory! Still can’t think of something? Visit your local community pages to find free & fun summer activities!  

Got Your Idea? Great! Lets get plannin’

Make sure that the activity you chose can be achieved before the end of summer. Plan your mode of transportation, when you plan to leave & return, any items such as food or gear that you need to pack and prepare for any weather changes!
